Cellulose Film Attributes

The fundamental requirement for today’s flexible packaging films is to ensure that the contents of the packs are kept in premium condition for the maximum period possible. Other critical success factors include product protection, the ease of use and packaging machine efficiency.

Innovia Films’ range of Cellophane™ and NatureFlex™ products can achieve these goals.

Both our Cellophane™ and NatureFlex™ films share some inherent properties such as:

•    dead-fold
•    anti-static
•    heat resistance
•    grease and chemical resistance
•    made from renewable resources

Within each family, Innovia Films has developed grades that offer maximum flexibility in terms of heat seal, barrier and aesthetics.

Cellophane™ XS

Cellophane™ XS are transparent general purpose two side PVdC coated, heat sealable, high barrier films. Suitable for use as a single film or in laminate structures for overwrapping and form-fill-seal packaging. Particularly suitable for the packaging of snack foods, baked products, cereals, confectionery and other hygroscopic products.
Cellophane™

Cellulose films are produced from sustainable wood pulp harvested from managed plantations. Cellophane™ is a cellulose film, which was developed over 80 years ago and which Innovia Films is committed to producing into the future.  In 2009 following a multi-million pound investment, new production capacity was commissioned.  Cellophane™ films offer a range of unique attributes which plastic films are unable to equal and can be supplied in a wide range of brilliant colours.
Cellophane™ is available in different formats, each with proven capabilities and functionality:

•    Uncoated
•    Co-polymer coated
•    Nitrocellulose coated
•    PVdC coated

Our Cellophane™ brand is renowned across the world for its performance in speciality markets including twistwrapped confectionery, “breathable” packaging for baked goods, “live” yeast and cheese products and CelloTherm™ ovenable and microwaveable packaging.

Cellophane™ is also used in technically challenging applications such as adhesive tapes, heat-resistant release liners and for battery separators.

NatureFlex™ XS

The NatureFlex™ family of films not only offers the technical performance for today’s packaging requirements but also the environmental benefits of being suitable for industrial and home composting as well as being waste water degradable.

NatureFlex™ films have been tested and proven to provide an effective barrier against mineral oil residues.

Innovia Films’ NatureFlex™ is a key part of our overall product portfolio and has proved successful through the technical properties it provides.
NatureFlex™ is available in different formats, each with proven capabilities and functionality:

•    Uncoated
•    NE Coated
•    NV Coated
•    NK Coated
•    Metallised NatureFlex™
•    N913

These bio-films are based strongly on renewable resources (wood-pulp from managed plantations) and are fully certified to the European (EN13432), American (ASTM D6400) and Australian (AS4736) norms for compostable packaging. In addition they have been proven to be suitable for home composting and will also biodegrade in a waste-water environment.  In addition further testing has proven that most NatureFlex™ grades are also suitable for anaerobic digestion.

The NatureFlex™ family of films not only offers the technical performance for today’s packaging requirements but also the environmental benefits of being suitable for industrial and home composting as well as being waste water degradable.

NatureFlex™ films have been tested and proven to provide an effective barrier against mineral oil residues.

NatureFlex™ films use novel heat seal-resins on each side. They are static free and offer a super wide heat seal range for outstanding machine performance. The films offer good gas barrier properties and the coatings can be tailored to provide varying degrees of moisture barrier, depending on the needs of the wrapped product.
